Glaucopsyche alexis (Poda, 1761)

Range: Temperate Eurasia.

Distribution in Bulgaria: From sea level to ca. 1500 m.

Habitat: Bushy glades, meadows, rocky grassy slopes, forest margins etc.

Bionomics: Two generations from April till September. Larval host-plants: various Fabaceae (Tolman & Lewington 1997).

Conservation status: Widespread and relatively abundant, not threatened. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern. Declining in W and N Europe, listed in The Red Data Book of European Butterflies as Vulnerable.
