Range: N Africa, Mediterrannean Europe, W and C Asia from Turkey to India.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Restricted to the lower Struma valley, so far not known further north than Sandanski. Below 400 m a.s.l.
Habitat: Dry, hot stony stream- and riverbeds.
Bionomics: In Bulgaria two or three generations throughout summer, insufficient data are available. Larva host-plants: grasses (Poaceae).
Conservation status: Needs further studies. The whole of the very small Bulgarian range of the species is situated in a rather densely populated region with developed agriculture and other human activities (e.g. road construction) that may have an adverse impact on this species. IUCN category: Data Deficient, possibly Vulnerable. Its inclusion into the Red Data Book of Bulgaria is herewith recommended.New
