Range: Temperate Eurasia.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Old records from N Bulgaria: Lovetch and Svishtov towns; more recently found also in Mt. Strandzha and along the S Black Sea coast.
Habitat: Wet grassy places near rivers, lakes or wetlands; woodland glades and clearings.
Bionomics: One generation in late May and June. Larva host-plants: grasses (Poaceae).
Conservation status: Possibly severely threatened, needs urgent studies. In Bulgaria wet habitats such as preferred by this species are frequently threatened by human activities. IUCN category: Data Deficient, possibly Endangered. Its inclusion into the Red Data Book of Bulgaria is herewith recommended.
