Scolitantides vicrama (Moore, 1865)

Systematics: In older Bulgarian sources this species is given as "baton". It has been shown that Scolitantides baton (Bergsträsser, 1779) is a different species which replaces vicrama in SW Europe. the two species are virtually identical externally but differ clearly in the male genitalia.
Range: C and E Europe, W and C Asia.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Local in the whle country from sea level to ca. 1400 m.
Habitat: Bushy glades, dry meadows, rocky grassy slopes etc., usually in calcareous terrain.
Bionomics: Two generations from April till August. Larval host-plants: Thymus and Satureja (Lamiaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: Local but not threatened in view of the wide availability of suitable habitats. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
