Range: Spain, Balkan Peninsula, Asia Minor, steppes of SE Europe.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Very local in SW and S Bulgaria from sea level to 1000 m, in N Bulgaria known only from the Black Sea coast (Baltchik).
Habitat: Hot, dry grassy and rocky slopes, most often in calcareous terrain.
Bionomics: One generation from late June till August. Larval host-plant: Potentilla (Rosaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: A very local and usually relatively rare species; most of its habitats are not threatened with the exception of Kresna gorge. IUCN category: Lower risk, near threatened?
