Plebeius damon ([Schiffermüller], 1775)
Name in Tolman & Lewington (1997): Agrodiaetus damon
Photo: Stoyan BeshkovRange: From S and C Europe (almost exclusively in mountains) and Asia Minor to Mongolia. In the Balkan Peninsula mostly found in the mountains of former Yugoslavia and Greece
.Distribution in Bulgaria: Very poorly known, so far there are only two reports that are considered reliable: below Arnautski peak in N Pirin, where numerous specimens have been collected in July 1916 (Drenowski 1921), and Kapatnik peak in Rila (Gogov & Lukov 1964). Between 1500 and 2000 m a.s.l. These records need confirmation. My search for this species on Kapatnik peak in July 1992 was unsuccessful.
Habitat: Not exactly known in Bulgaria, probably subalpine grassy slopes.
Bionomics: One generation in July and August. Larval host-plant: Onobrychis (Fabaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: Cannot be evaluated at present, this species needs dedicated research in Bulgaria. IUCN category: Data Deficient.
