Systematics: This taxon, described from Bulgaria, is treated by many authors as a subspecies of the Eurasian steppe species Plebeius pylaon (Fischer von Waldheim, 1832).
Range: Hungary, Balkan Peninsula, Crimea, AsiaMinor to Caucasus.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Very local in mountains up to ca. 1600 m a.s.l., found also at low altitude in N Bulgaria (Lom and Baltchik).
Habitat: Stony or rocky grassy places in calcareous terrain.
Bionomics: One generation from May till July. Larval host-plant: Astragalus (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: Local species with restricted range, though not directly threatened. IUCN category: Lower risk, near threatened.
