Nymphalis polychloros (Linnaeus, 1758)
Range: N Africa, Europe, W and C Asia.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Widespread from sea level to ca. 2000 m.
Habitat: Deciduous and mixed forests and their margins, river valleys.
Bionomics: One generation appearing in June-July, hibernates and flies again next sping. Larval host-plants: Ulmus, Salix, Populus and various trees and shrubs of the Rosaceae family (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: Of no concern. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
