Range: From Europe and Turkey to C Asia.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Widespread but local from sea level up to 2000 m, in S Bulgaria mainly in mountains.
Habitat: Damp or dry bushy and/or grassy places: woodland glades, meadows, mountain slopes, river gorges etc.
Bionomics: One generation flying from May till August depending on altitude. Larval host-plant: Corydalis (Fumariaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: A local but stable and not directly threatened species in the country. However, it is of conservation interest in view of its large-scale decline in much of its European range. IUCN category: Lower risk, near threatened. Listed in Appendix II of the Bern Convention (CITES).
