Lycaena thersamon (Esper, [1784])
Range: Italy, SE Europe, W and C Asia.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Widespread mostly in the lowlands from sea level to about 1000 m, but recorded from up to 1800 m.
Habitat: Dry, hot grassy, bushy and/or rocky places, ruderal habitats, river valleys etc.
Bionomics: Two or three generations from May to September. Larval host-plants: various Rumex (Polygonaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: A widespread and locally common species. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
