Range: N Africa, S Europe, W and C Asia.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Widespread, though local, from sea level to ca. 1800 m.
Habitat: Bushy grassy places, usually in the vicinity of deciduous and mixed forests.
Bionomics: One generation from June to September. Larval host-plants: grasses (Poaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: A widespread and abundant species. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
