Erebia oeme (Hübner, [1804])
Range: Endemic to Europe, occurs in the higher mountains of S and C Europe.
Distribution in Bulgaria: Rila, Pirin, Vitosha, Stara Planina, Osogovo and W Rhodopi, between ca. 1400 and 2600 m a.s.l.
Habitat: Wet grassy places such as slopes, fringes of coniferous forests, stream beds, bogs etc.
Bionomics: One generation in July and August. Larval host-plants: grasses (Poaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).
Conservation status: This Erebia has a restricted Bulgarian as well as total range and, despite not being directly threatened at present, must be considered vulnerable and of conservation interest. IUCN category: Vulnerable. Its inclusion into the Red Data Book of Bulgaria is herewith recommended.
