Colias croceus (Fourcroy, 1785)

Range: N Africa, S and C Europe, W Asia.

Distribution in Bulgaria: The whole country.

Habitat: Not associated with particular habitat, can be encountered anywhere in open places.

Bionomics: Three, in the hottest regions perhaps more, generations from March till October. Larval host-plants: various Fabaceae (Tolman & Lewington 1997).

Conservation status: One of the most common and widespread butterflies in Bulgaria. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
